Tsering Dorji Bawa, was born in Toe Bawa (Nyari region) in the western part of Tibet. He joined Tibetan Institute of Performing Arts (TIPA), Dharamsala, India in 1986 and graduated in Tibetan Opera, music, Theater and sacred/monastic dance in 1994 with distinction.
He had completed his Master degree in Tibetan Performing Arts in 2000 from the same Institute. After graduation he taught at the TIPA as an arts instructor for several years. During which time he had initiated and conducted extensive research on folk music and
dances from various regions of Tibet.
He and Michael Becker worked together to create the original soundtrack for the 2009, Emmy award winning documentary, ‘The Women of Tibet- A Quiet Revolution’.
And also his music for First Prize, Children’s Jury Award winning, ‘Big Treasure Chest for Future Kids-Tibet.’ Prix Jeunesse 2000, Munich (Germany).
